PRIMARY
PURPOSE:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the subject area taught to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

- Bachelor's degree (if teaching assignment is at a comprehensive HS) from accredited university or high school diploma/GED and equivalent wage-earning experience as required by certification (minimum Statement of Qualification (SOQ) of 3 years of Creditable working experience in assigned area).
- Valid Texas Career and Technology Education teaching certificate with required license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the career and technology education subject area assigned
- Knowledge of career and technology education subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to supervise student field experiences in career area assigned
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- At least one year student teaching or approved internship or
- Three or more years of wage-earning experience in the area of certification
NCLB Requirements: Must meet NCLB "Highly Qualified" requirements.
