Antea Group is seeking an experienced Energy Marshal to support our growing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practice within the data center and mission-critical infrastructure sector. The Energy Marshal will provide onsite technical leadership and oversight of Control of Hazardous Energy (CoHE), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, system energization, and commissioning activities during data center construction and operational readiness.
This position will work closely with Antea Group project teams, client representatives, EHS professionals, construction management, commissioning teams, general contractors, trade partners, and equipment vendors to help ensure hazardous-energy activities are properly planned, coordinated, controlled, and executed.
This is a field-based position supporting active data center construction, commissioning, and operational-readiness environments. Candidates should be comfortable working around complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure, active construction operations, energization activities, and multiple contractors and trade partners. Project assignments may require travel or temporary assignment to client locations depending on project needs.
Essential Functions Include but Are Not Limited to:- Provide onsite oversight and coordination of Control of Hazardous Energy and LOTO programs during data center construction, commissioning, startup, maintenance, and operational readiness.
- Review energy-isolation procedures, switching plans, LOTO documentation, permits, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Method of Procedures (MOPs), and other safe-work documentation.
- Support planning and coordination of energization, de-energization, testing, commissioning, and equipment startup activities.
- Verify electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, gravity, and other stored-energy sources are identified, isolated, and appropriately controlled, including verification of zero-energy state where required.
- Read and interpret electrical one-lines, schematics, blueprints, construction drawings, and equipment documentation to identify energy sources and isolation points.
- Support complex electrical infrastructure including 120/208V and 277/480V systems, medium-voltage distribution, switch gear, transformers, UPS systems, battery systems, generators, transfer equipment, and redundant power systems.
- Support safe installation, testing, validation, and turnover of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Conduct field observations and audits of contractor and trade-partner compliance with project-specific LOTO, CoHE, and electrical safety requirements.
- Identify unsafe conditions, deficiencies, and deviations from approved energy-control procedures and communicate required corrective actions.
- Participate in pre-energization meetings, readiness reviews, commissioning coordination meetings, and high-risk work planning.
- Coordinate closely with EHS, project management, commissioning, general contractors, subcontractors, and equipment vendors.
- Provide coaching and technical guidance regarding LOTO, electrical safety, and hazardous-energy control requirements.
- Exercise Stop Work Authority when uncontrolled energy hazards or significant deviations from approved procedures are identified.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, audits, energy-control activities, observations, and corrective actions, while serving as a professional Antea Group representative.
- 7–10+ years of relevant electrical, construction, commissioning, maintenance, or energy-control experience preferred.
- Experience supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, industrial, or other complex electrical environments.
- Practical experience with LOTO and Control of Hazardous Energy programs, electrical energization, switching, commissioning, or startup activities.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory, distribution systems, switch gear, transformers, UPS systems, battery systems, generators, transfer equipment, and redundant electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, drawings, schematics, and construction documentation.
- Understanding of mechanical and stored-energy hazards, including pneumatic, hydraulic, pressure, thermal, gravity, and rotating equipment.
- Strong construction safety knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively with skilled trades, EHS professionals, commissioning teams, project managers, and client leadership.
