Position: Security Officer II - Armed as School Guardian Pool 2025-2026

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, provide security and protection for students, staff, and visitors within assigned area of the district. Provides escort services, and other basic public assistance services as needed. Performs routine security and public safety patrol duties within assigned area. Remains alert to emergency situations and provides first-line response, emergency management, and/or referral if required.
Qualifications
  • Education/Certification/Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
    • Minimum 5 years law enforcement work experience
    • License to Carry Handgun issued under Texas Government Code
    • Certificate of school safety training under Government Code 411.1901 - certification must be acquired within 30-days of employment or next available training date
    • Working knowledge of security-related and emergency operations planning, technology (security cameras) preferred
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
    • Ability to clearly and accurately record information
    • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and community members
    • Ability to demonstrate problem solving and responsible decision-making skills
    • Ability to maintain and project professional appearance
    • Possess designated firearm prior to employment at District OR Purchase designated firearm within five (5) days of receipt of written authorization to carry
    • Pass criminal history, drug testing, medical and psychological screening process
    • Collaborate with district and campus staff who oversee safety protocols
    • Excellent judgment and the ability to make sound, reasonable decisions while under pressure
    • Writing and verbal communication skills, including in the context of fact-gathering and investigation and preparing reports
    • Strong public relations, interpersonal skills and working collaboratively with others
    • Ability to maintain firearm proficiency as required
    • Ability to successfully complete all required safety and/or security training

    Hourly minimum $27.13
