GVR Solutions are working with a specialist drylining and joinery fit-out contractor delivering high-quality projects across the commercial fit out sector.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Estimator to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with existing estimating experience, or a junior candidate looking to develop their career within a specialist subcontractor.

Working closely with the Senior Estimator and wider commercial team, you will support the preparation of competitive and accurate tenders for a range of drylining, partitioning, ceilings and bespoke joinery packages.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Estimator:

  • Assist with the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders.
  • Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Take-offs and measurement of drylining, partitioning, ceilings and joinery works.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assist with pricing labour, materials, plant and associated costs.
  • Prepare tender summaries and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and clients to obtain pricing and clarify requirements.
  • Assist with identifying project risks, exclusions and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and tender databases.
  • Support the Estimating Manager/Senior Estimator through the tender process.
  • Assist with post-tender negotiations and revisions where required.
  • Build knowledge of market rates, materials and construction methodologies.

The Assistant Estimator must have/be:

  • Previous experience in an estimating, quantity surveying or commercial role within construction.
  • Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist contracting environment.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tenders effectively.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
