A well-regarded primary school in Harlow is looking for a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This full-time role is to start immediately and involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) .
You’ll play a key role in helping the child engage with learning, build confidence, and develop key social and emotional skills. The school is known for its nurturing ethos, welcoming atmosphere, and strong commitment to inclusion — making it a fantastic environment for both pupils and staff to thrive.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN, tailoring your approach to meet their individual learning and emotional needs.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual education and behaviour support plans.
Encourage engagement and participation in classroom activities.
Support the child’s emotional wellbeing, promoting confidence and resilience.
Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff and parents.
What We’re Looking ForExperience supporting children with SEN (e.g. Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs).
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build trusting relationships with children and staff.
A proactive and flexible attitude to supporting learning.
