Zenovo are looking for an experienced Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join a client's Design & Development team in Harlow, Essex. A successful candidate will be expected to design and develop robust, cost-effective and manufacturable electro-mechanical solutions for low-voltage (LV) power distribution systems, including sheet metal enclosures and structural components, within an ISO 9001 environment. Working closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, Technical Sales and suppliers, you will support the full product lifecycle from concept and CAD design through to prototyping, NPI and production support.
You will also contribute to continuous improvement, product reliability and engineering best practice, while ensuring designs meet technical, quality and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Design and develop sheet metal enclosures, structural components and electro-mechanical assemblies for power distribution systems. Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings and tolerances to support manufacture and assembly. Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring alignment with procurement and cost requirements. Support prototype builds, testing, validation and design iterations, resolving technical issues as required.
Prepare clear manufacturing documentation, including assembly instructions, fabrication details and design specifications. Ensure designs comply with ISO 9001, internal engineering processes, industry standards and relevant safety requirements. Provide technical support to Production, resolving design queries and improving manufacturability and build efficiency. Liaise with suppliers on component selection, technical queries and design requirements. Support New Product Introduction (NPI), from design through to production, while contributing to continuous improvement and engineering best practice.
Required
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in electro-mechanical design within electrical distribution or power distribution equipment. Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with experience supporting testing and repair processes. Proficiency in Onshape or similar 3D CAD software, with the ability to produce accurate engineering designs and drawings. Good knowledge of low-voltage electrical protection, switch gear and power distribution systems. Ability to work collaboratively with software and hardware engineers to design, test and debug integrated systems.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. A practical, hands-on approach to design, with an understanding of manufacturing, assembly and product testing. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
