Established in 1954, Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital offers your companion pets a modern, well‑equipped hospital with comfortable patient quarters and state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic and treatment facilities. We are conveniently located on the East side of Harper Avenue between Allard Ave and Eight Mile Rd at 20102 Harper Avenue in Harper Woods, Michigan.

Position Purpose

Full or Part Time Available! Up to a $50,000 sign‑on for Full Time.

We’re seeking a full‑time veterinarian with a strong interest in surgery who wants to practice excellent medicine in a positive, well‑supported environment.

Clinical Highlights
  • 10 exam rooms, 2‑table OR, 4 wet tables.
  • Diverse caseload with opportunity for orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
  • DVMs currently performing cruciate repairs and expanding into TPLO training.
  • Acupuncture and therapy laser services.
  • Digital full‑body and dental x‑rays, ultrasound (cardio expansion in progress).
  • ~20–22 appointments per day; 15‑minute standard.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end‑of‑life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
