The Orchards Michigan , located in Harper Woods , MI is currently seeking an experienced shuttle bus driver to join our team.

• The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
• Understanding of the importance of attendance
• Excellent customer service
• Extensive contact with patients / residents / families of a nursing home facility
• Assisting ambulatory and wheel chair bound individuals in safely entering and leaving the vehicle via electronic ramp and stairs
• Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
• Securing residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
• Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
• Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
• Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair

• Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload wheelchair passengers from a motor vehicle
• Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
• Ability to find geographic locations
• Ability to follow oral / written instructions and keep a record of activities
• Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
• Possession of a valid Chauffer driver’s license
• 12 months or more of work experience operating, loading, and unloading passengers in a motor vehicle
• Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
