Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership over three H&R Block tax offices and lead customer-centric teams to accelerate their seasonal tax business.
  • Serve as the front-line manager for leadership and development of associates, delivering an outstanding client experience and achieving all office growth objectives for three tax offices. Prior tax preparation experience is not required.
  • Start with a flexible part-time schedule in the fall to prepare for the busy tax season, transitioning to full-time from January to April, with evenings and weekend hours as needed. This role is in-person and not remote.
  • Travel between offices as required and manage office staffing, operations, and logistics with support from Associate Team Leaders.
  • Lead daily team meetings and communicate essential information to tax office associates; create associate work schedules and ensure accurate timekeeping and labor management.
  • Assist the District General Manager (DGM) in recruiting and interviewing candidates for tax office roles; conduct timely performance reviews and coordinate with the Associate Relations Center to resolve issues and address performance concerns.
  • Prepare tax returns as needed after successful completion of the Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Multi-unit people management experience in retail, restaurant, banking, or other related industries.
  • Ability to manage office staffing and operations for multiple offices with support from Associate Team Leaders.
  • Partner with the DGM to create and implement office-level growth plans and client growth targets, including developing local partnerships and managing office community involvement.
  • Recruiting and interviewing candidates for tax office associate positions.
  • Conduct performance reviews and work with the Associate Relations Center to resolve associate issues and address performance concerns.
  • Build an engaging team environment across all offices by training and coaching associates; recognize outstanding contributions.
  • Lead daily team meetings and communicate essential information to tax office associates.
  • Develop associate work schedules and manage timekeeping and labor for associates across all offices.
  • Travel between offices as required.
  • Educational prerequisites:
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a high school diploma with equivalent experience; successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or Income Tax Course (if preparing tax returns).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office.
  • Enrolled in or completed the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment (as applicable).
