Position Summary and Purpose

Set up and operate CNC 3 or 5 axis machining center using mills, drills, taps, slotters and boring bars to perform machining operations such as reaming, milling, drilling, boring and tapping. Select, set, calibrate and secure tools in tool holders to perform metal cutting operations.

We have 2 Lines and 1 Doosan and are installing a brand new Doosan as well.

Second Shift starts at 2:30, 3:30 or 4:30 pm (Optional Year Round). There will be a training/assessment period on first shift until you and the company are comfortable. First Shift starts at 6 or 7 am.

Shift differential pay: $2.50/hr when you start on second shift.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive work assignment, secure drawings, set‑up sketch, programs, and tool list.
  • Use crane and lifting devices to place workpiece on machine table, rotary table, auxiliary table, floor plate and/or set‑up fixtures making close measurements at multiple locations to level and align work.
  • Install program and appropriate tools. After engaging power, adjust coolant and observe entire operation, checking dimensions and adjusting as needed.
  • Report program errors or malfunctions, edit programs as needed.
  • Set and utilize instruments to check tool settings for proper cutting dimensions, adjust settings as necessary.
  • Continually check fixtures and holding devices for setups to assure proper working conditions. Store tools and maintain necessary tool records.
  • Perform simple layout work when required, using templates or by calculations, measuring and marking surfaces for machining.
  • Perform very close machining operations such as drilling, boring, reaming, facing, milling on parts such as shear housing, tables, rams, hold‑down beams, beds, brake housings, rams, beds, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform all assignments in a safe manner and in accordance with established quality procedures.
Education and Experience – REQUIRED
  • High School diploma or certificate of equivalency.
  • 2 years prior machining center experience.
Valued But Not Required
  • Technical school certificate or degree.
  • Programming skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Characteristics, Etc. – REQUIRED
  • Ability to read and interpret prints with GD&T.
  • Ability to edit programs.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Commitment to company Core Values.
Valued But Not Required (KSA)
  • Programming experience.
Tools, Technology and Equipment Used

CNC Machining Center, rotary table, remote overhead crane and hoist, various cutting tools, clamps, fixtures, lifters, tooling, tool-setting instruments, micrometers, gauges, and measuring tools.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Employee must regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms, and climb ladders. Must be frequently required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds. Essential vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and extreme conditions is common. Noise level can be loud at times.
