Key InformationThe Inventory Control Specialist position at Central Stores is a full-time career opportunity with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $23.93 – $26.33 per hour (equivalent to $49,774 – $54,766 annually); however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City policy.
ResponsibilitiesAs the Inventory Control Specialist, you'll support the daily operations of a centralized warehouse—opening/closing, enforcing procedures, receiving, storing, issuing, delivering, and restocking materials—while safely operating material-handling equipment. Additionally, you'll be involved in the coordination of procurement and vendor management by participating in the Product Review Committee, which will include researching vendors and products, preparing specifications, bids, and purchase orders, maintaining vendor/contact lists, and auditing invoices to resolve billing issues within authority.
This role is responsible for managing interdepartmental ordering through online vendor platforms, forecasting departmental needs, training staff on platform use, and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Other tasks will include overseeing inventory control and recordkeeping by recommending stock levels, conducting periodic or specialized inventories, updating manual/automated records, and identifying improvements to recordkeeping methods.

- High school diploma or GED and considerable (3‑5 years) experience in the operation of a storage or warehousing facility and inventory management processes, including automated recordkeeping. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
- Valid driver's license at time of hire. Commercial Driver's License required within 6 months of hire date and on‑the‑job training will be provided.
- Availability to participate in emergency snow and ice operations is required.

The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
- Alcohol and drug testing as required by the Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA);
- FMCSA Clearinghouse Query;

- Job-specific physical;
- Criminal background check.
