Overview

This position assists the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager in the day‑to‑day operations of the branch, ensuring alignment with Farmers & Merchants goals, policies and procedures. The Branch Specialist answers questions in the office during the absence of the Branch Manager and Assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the day‑to‑day branch operations and policy compliance.
  • Provide leadership in product knowledge, analyze customer needs, and promote bank services and products.
  • Maintain quality service to all customers and support two branch and operations functions.
  • Float across Branch, Head Teller, Customer Service Representative II, or Loan Secretary roles as a utility person.
  • Assist in developing knowledgeable and capable employees.
  • Handle customer inquiries, resolve problems, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform teller functions such as opening accounts and operating a teller window when needed.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls promptly, transfer calls, and take and deliver messages.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and secure negotiable and confidential information.
  • Represent the bank professionally and courteously in person or by telephone; engage with community and civic organizations to promote goodwill.
  • Assist in cross‑training, staff sales development, and routine personnel issue resolution with branch management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet branch needs.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate with three to five years of branch experience.
  • Proficient keyboarding and calculator/computer use.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with effective supervisory abilities.
  • Fully experienced in at least two branch areas (Teller, Customer Service Representative, or Loan Secretary) and knowledgeable of branch support functions.
  • Must be fully knowledgeable of head teller or Customer Service Representative responsibilities.
  • Ability to multitask, work efficiently, and maintain accuracy amid frequent interruptions.
  • Outgoing and pleasant personality with above‑average knowledge of bank branch operations.
  • Physical ability to stand or sit for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and concentrate for extended periods.
