The Parking Services Patroller is a part‑time position (no benefits) with a preferred hiring range of $17.57 - $18.89 per hour; however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City policy.
When you join HPD as a Parking Services Patroller, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining City parking regulations, enhancing safety in your local community, and providing excellent customer service. While each day is different, a typical day could consist of you patrolling the streets and parking lots for over‑parked cars and other parking violations, sending notices for unpaid parking tickets, recording parking tickets issued by HPD personnel, assisting citizens and visitors with a variety of inquiries, and informing your supervisor of graffiti, litter, property damage and other issues related to the maintenance of commercial and public areas in the downtown district.
In this role, you'll utilize a smartphone and applications in the day‑to‑day duties.

- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience working with the public.

The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
- DMV Driving Record Review;
- Criminal Background Investigation, including Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) Fingerprinting.
