General InformationJames Madison University (JMU), a Carnegie R2 institution, invites applications and nominations for Dean of the College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE). The dean will be a strategic and inclusive leader who inspires and supports faculty, staff, and students.
CISE is home to three academic units—Computer Science, Engineering, and the School of Integrated Sciences—offering seven undergraduate and five graduate programs. Known for its academic excellence and innovative applied STEM programs, CISE is an interdisciplinary community committed to making a positive impact on the world. Its programs address real-world challenges through collaborative, human-centered solutions that reflect a deep understanding of technology and the environment.
In alignment with JMU's move to national status, CISE faculty exemplify the teacher-scholar model, which serves as the foundation of the college's community and identity. Faculty are scholars of change who embrace innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration in support of real-world impact. The college is especially strong in the Boyer categories of Application and Integration but also pursues the Scholarship of Discovery and Teaching/Learning.
CISE faculty are distinguished by their commitment to excellent teaching and research. This commitment is reflected in student research and design work integrated throughout the curriculum including required capstone projects, sponsored funding from a range of agencies and industry partners, and a variety of community-focused projects.
