Position:Part-Time CRE Program Assistant
We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and compassionate individual to serve as a Part-Time CRE Program Assistant for our vibrant and growing community. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood development and committed to Unitarian Universalist values.
Commitment & Compensation- Hours: 8–10 hours per month (approximately 2–3 hours per scheduled Sunday, typically 3–4 times per month).
- Schedule: Primarily mornings on Sundays, with occasional weekday evening or Saturday opportunities as needed for special events and programs. Our CRE Program runs year-round. Applicants with limited seasonal availability are still encouraged to apply.
- Compensation: Competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience.
- Start date: The anticipated start date is February 1, 2026

Working under the supervision of the Director of Children’s Religious Exploration (DCRE) and in collaboration with other members and volunteers, the CRE Program Assistant will:
- Program Support: Assist in planning, setting up, and facilitating weekly classes and activities according to the curriculum guidelines, policies, and procedures of the church.
- Supervision: Provide active supervision to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants, ranging in age from toddlers to middle school youth.
- Mentorship: Be a consistent, reliable, and positive adult presence, helping to foster an atmosphere of trust, respect, and fun.
- Logistics: Assist with logistical tasks, including preparing materials, light clean-up, and ensuring necessary supplies are available.
- Inclusivity: Actively promote an inclusive environment where children and families of diverse backgrounds, identities, and spiritual beliefs feel valued and affirmed.
Required:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience working with children or youth (either volunteer or paid)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to supporting church activities.
- Ability to pass a thorough background check and reference checks as required for all staff working with minors
- Familiarity with Unitarian Universalist principles, practices, or faith development
- Experience with youth leadership development or social justice programming
- Child or Adult CPR and First Aid Training
