General InformationThe School of Musicseeksan innovative, forward thinking, and collaborative colleague to teach andestablisha comprehensive music technology program which situates existing and developing technologies within fields of music (e.g., composition, education, performance, theory, etc.). Successful candidates will demonstrate strong musicianship withintheirmediumand havebroadexpertisewithina variety of established and emerging technologies. This position is a full-time, 10-month renewable term appointment (non-tenure track) at the rank of Lecturer beginning in August 2027.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
Primary teaching responsibilities might include courses on the cultural relevancy of music technology across disciplines, audio recording and sound mixing techniques, music technology within specific genres (e.g.,EDM,hip hop,film,game),commercial music,or the use of artificial intelligence in music, for example.
The candidate will have the freedom to design courses within their area/s of expertise with the eventual goal of a Music Technology concentration.
The successful candidate will prepare students forthe current varied and evolving professional landscape. Areas of knowledgemightinclude music production, recorded and live sound management, studio and stage sound production, mixed media technologies,immersive/3-D audio,generative music,and the use of artificial intelligence in music, among other music-technological fields.
