Western State Hospital (WSH) is currently hiring for part‑time LPNs on 1st and 2nd shift, 7:00 am‑3:00 pm and 3:00 pm‑11:30 pm. Join our dedicated team and provide high‑quality patient care in a safe, therapeutic environment at a state psychiatric facility that operates 24/7. LPN will provide direct patient care in a safe, therapeutic environment for a specific patient population in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital that conforms to care and treatment policies and procedures and demonstrates knowledge of population specific needs and competencies.

• Providing quality care as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Providing work direction to PNA staff, under supervision of an RN
• Maintaining accountability in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment
• Creating healthy interpersonal interactions on adult acute admissions unit, geriatric unit, and extended rehabilitation service unit
• Observing and reporting feedback regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, physical and emotional wellbeing, and other situations
• Documenting and communicating
• Using specialized training to promote mental wellness recovery
• Prioritizing time to meet patient’s needs and provide direct patient care duties as assigned and when finished with medication administration
• Implementing all individual treatment plans as written
• Administering medications, performing treatments, and reporting and documenting patient education and response according to policy and procedure

2nd shift weekdays $3.50/hr., and weekend/holidays $3.50/hr.

• Knowledge of illness and treatment modalities to include medication administration
• Ability to implement nursing care plan and provide guidance to other staff
• Ability to delegate and supervise nursing staff
• Effective written, verbal, and sign communication
• Ability to participate in interdisciplinary team
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Ability to work overtime due to staffing emergencies in a 24‑hour, 7‑day per week psychiatric hospital which may, at times, require a 16‑hour shift
• Complete all annual competency training including TOVA III with physical restraints
• Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers with the American Heart Association
• Demonstrate knowledge of recovery/trauma‑informed care

Psych Nursing experience preferred. Veteran or Spouse of Veteran. Bilingual in Spanish.
