Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the 5 West Medical Surgical unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or interest in stroke/AMS/TIA/dialysis and a mixture of other med/surg disease processes. Exceptional customer service must be delivered to all patients and families.

Sign on bonus up to $20,000 offered plus relocation assistance (if criteria met).

• Associate’s Degree – Nursing
• Bachelor’s Degree – Nursing

• Registered Nurse

Previous acute‑care experience preferred, but not required.

• Perform comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and education.
• Provide culturally congruent, evidence‑based care and maintain professional ethics.
• Document and evaluate patient outcomes, ensuring safety and continuous quality improvement.
• Participate in unit rounds, case conferences, and family meetings.

This 10‑week Transition to Practice program includes in‑person case studies, simulation, skills labs, preceptor mentorship, and virtual professional development sessions. A subsequent 6‑month residency supports new graduates in medical‑surgical practice.
