Kitchen Staff Substitute – Opaa! Food Management

Position Summary:

Able to perform the essential function of kitchen staff positions on an as‑needed basis. Opaa! Food Management, Inc. operates in 8 states in the Midwest. Pay rates vary depending on state and position. Please apply, and a Hiring Manager will discuss pay with you in more detail.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with set‑up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at the required temperature.
  • Assist in the preparation of foods according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes, including planning and preparing ahead for next‑day menus.
  • Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
  • Keep work areas neat, clean, and organized.
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes.
  • Maintain inventory stock using FIFO procedures; keep cooler/storage racks clean and debris‑free.
  • Clean, monitor chemical usage, and maintain equipment in the dishwashing area.
  • Requisition appropriate amounts of food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prepare bread, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods as required by the menu plan.
  • Batch cook to maintain a quality product and excellent presentation.
  • Set up serving/bar lines and ensure all food is held at the proper temperatures.
  • Serve items with proper serving sizes, utensils, and maintain presentation and hospitality.
  • Keep serving lines supplied with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes.
  • Prepare foods for meal service in strict compliance with menu plan and recipes.
  • Convert and follow standardized recipes to ensure consistent, high‑quality product.
  • Follow HACCP processes; record temperatures of all hot and cold food.
  • Obey safety rules; report unsafe conditions; participate in safety incentive program.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings per HHFKA and CACFP regulations.
  • Maintain strict compliance with Opaa! Food Management, Inc. Timekeeping Policy.
  • Handle customer monies, run cash registers, and ensure reimbursable meals only.
  • Complete daily paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation tasks.
  • Submit all hours worked via ADP or edit sheet.
  • Notify DNS 24 hr in advance of inability to cover an assigned shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, and reach with hands and arms as required.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull objects up to 25 lb occasionally and/or frequently lift up to 60 lb.
  • Maintain visual acuity: concentrated attention, depth perception, focus, color vision.
Education & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; or up to 1 month related experience, training, or equivalent combination.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group customers and employees.
  • Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division with whole numbers, fractions, decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: apply commonsense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; handle problems with concrete variables.

  • Dishwasher, steamer/kettle, mixer, oven, stove, fryers, slicer, thermometers, gauges, knives, box cutters, meal‑counting software, desktop PCs, calculator, telephone, fax, scanner, copier, printer.
