Our client is a highly respected and expanding professional services firm with a strong presence across Yorkshire and the wider region. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Harrogate area office and play a key role in delivering exceptional accounts, tax, and advisory services to a diverse client base.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking to progress towards Assistant Manager and Manager level within a supportive and collaborative environment that actively invests in its people.

As a Senior Accountant, you will manage your own portfolio of clients while supporting the development of junior team members and providing high-quality accounting and advisory services to a broad range of owner-managed businesses.

• Manage and take ownership of a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors
• Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies
• Prepare and review management accounts and financial reporting packs
• Prepare and review personal tax returns
• Prepare and review partnership accounts and tax returns
• Review and submit VAT returns
• Support clients with business planning, forecasting and advisory projects
• Attend client meetings and build strong relationships with business owners and directors
• Provide mentoring, training and support to junior team members
• Assist with identifying opportunities to add value and expand client relationships

• ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong UK practice background
• Ideally 1+ years' post-qualified experience (PQE)
• Experienced Accounts Senior ready to step up or an established Senior Accountant seeking further progression
• ACCA/ACA finalists with substantial relevant experience will also be considered
• Minimum 4-6 years' UK accountancy practice experience preferred
• Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients independently

• Strong knowledge of:
  • UK GAAP
  • FRS 102
  • Personal and partnership taxation
  • VAT compliance and reporting
• Experience using accounting software such as:
  • IRIS (highly desirable)
  • Sage
  • Xero
  • Quick Books
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Ability to prepare and review complex financial statements

• Proactive and commercially minded
• Strong organisational and workload management skills
• Professional and confident client communicator
• Self-motivated with a desire to develop professionally
• Enjoys mentoring and supporting junior colleagues
• Confident working independently whilst contributing to a collaborative team environment
