Role Description
The Assistant/Associate/Professor of Pediatrics is a part‑time, on‑site faculty role based in Harrogate, TN. This position involves designing and delivering high‑quality instruction in pediatric medicine, including lectures, small‑group sessions, and clinical teaching as appropriate. The faculty member will assess learner performance, provide timely feedback, and contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of pediatric courses. Responsibilities also include mentoring and advising learners, participating in scholarly or research activities when possible, and engaging in service to the department, college, and community.
The role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary colleagues to support an inclusive, student‑centered learning environment aligned with the University’s mission.
- Advanced degree in medicine (MD or DO), with completed residency training in Pediatrics; board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics.
- Active, unrestricted or eligibility for medical licensure in the appropriate jurisdiction to support clinical or instructional duties.
- Demonstrated experience teaching medical students, residents, or other health professions learners in classroom and/or clinical settings.
- Strong skills in curriculum design, learner assessment, and use of evidence‑based educational methods.
- Commitment to ethical practice, professionalism, and fostering a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex pediatric concepts clearly to diverse learners.
- Capacity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, manage time effectively, and balance teaching, service, and scholarly responsibilities.
- Engagement in scholarly activity (e.g., clinical research, educational research, quality improvement, or publications) is preferred.
- Interest in serving the Appalachian region and supporting LMU’s mission through teaching, mentorship, and community‑oriented service.
