Teacher of Sociology

About the role

We are working in partnership with a well-respected secondary school in Harrogate to recruit a knowledgeable and committed Teacher of Sociology to start in September. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking department in a school that values high-quality teaching, inclusive practice, and strong academic outcomes. This full time role is expected to last until Christmas in the first instance on a full time basis.

• Plan and deliver high-quality Sociology lessons in line with the AQA specification
• Teach key sociological topics such as education, families and households, crime and deviance, and research methods
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed
• Assess, monitor and report on student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
• Encourage critical thinking and discussion through engaging and thought-provoking lessons

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching Sociology at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for social sciences
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Two education-based references
