R&D Technician - Robotics

Temporary role available for a hands‑on Engineer & Prototype Builder to support the development of cutting‑edge robotic and electro‑mechanical systems.

This is a practical role undertaking build, rework and testing in an interesting and fast‑paced environment.

You’ll work closely with engineers and design teams to turn ideas into functional solutions, contributing to innovation in robotics and product development.

• Build and assemble electro‑mechanical robotic prototypes from drawings and specifications
• Interpret and work to electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and electronic layouts
• Carry out mechanical assembly, fitting, and soldering of electronic components
• Test and identify problems, faults and find workarounds
• Collaborate with design & R&D teams to ensure prototypes meet functional requirements and modify builds where necessary
• Undertake electronic rework, fault‑finding and repair to component level
• Electrical assembly and repair of cable insertion systems
• Final test and quality inspection for products before delivery

• Relevant apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical Electronic Engineering, or Mechatronics
• Experience building prototypes or bespoke machinery ideal
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams
• Hands‑on experience with tools & workshop equipment
• Any previous understanding of robotics, automation, or mechatronics would be of great interest
• Fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills in electro‑mechanical systems
• Be able to use electronic test equipment including multimeters and continuity testers
