Senior Structural Engineer, Harrogate

Overview

An established and highly respected Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join its growing team in Harrogate. Responsibilities
  • Work on a diverse portfolio of projects from concept through to completion, taking ownership of structural designs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help maintain high technical standards.
  • Deliver innovative and practical structural solutions in collaboration with architects, developers, contractors and fellow engineers.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, detailed design, structural assessments, site inspections and client‑facing meetings, seeing projects through every stage of the design process.
  • Produce calculations, technical reports and construction information in accordance with current British Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Manage your own workload, coordinate with clients and design teams, attend project meetings and ensure designs are delivered to programme and the highest technical standards.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and previous experience within a UK consultancy environment.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard design software such as TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, Master Series or similar, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience designing structures in steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and a proactive approach.
  • Experience liaising regularly with clients, architects, contractors and local authorities.
  • Experience mentoring graduate and assistant engineers.
  • Chartered Engineers, or those actively working towards Chartership with the ICE or IStructE, are encouraged.
