Recruit UK is recruiting for a Senior Paraplanner to join a rapidly growing financial planning firm in Harrogate.

Ideally, this role is for an individual who has obtained chartered status, but if you have a wealth of experience in a technical paraplanner role, we would love to hear from you.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical Paraplanning & Analysis
- Produce high-quality, compliant suitability reports across pensions, investments, protection, and estate planning.
- Carry out complex technical calculations, including:
- Offshore and onshore bond calculations
- Chargeable event gain analysis & top slicing relief
- Carry forward, pension annual allowance, and tapered annual allowance calculations
- Support advisers with:
- Retirement income and tax-free cash planning
- Investment and portfolio structuring
- Intergenerational and estate planning
- Analyse, recommend, and assist with the purchase of gilts considering yield, maturity, and suitability
- Keep abreast of legislative, regulatory, and tax changes, applying them pragmatically to client advice
- Provide advanced technical support across UK trust structures, including: discretionary, bare, interest in possession, loan, and discounted gift trusts
- Support advisers with trust income tax, capital gains tax, periodic and exit charges, and trust registration/reporting
- Assist with trust-based investment planning and suitability
- Act as a technical reference point on complex estate and succession planning cases
Research, Compliance & Process
- Conduct detailed product and fund research
- Prepare cashflow models, projections, and technical appendices
- Ensure all advice meets FCA requirements, internal standards, and best practice
- Work independently to manage complex cases end-to-end
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of paraplanning processes, templates, and technical frameworks
- Act as a senior technical resource for advisers and paraplanners
- Review work produced by junior paraplanners
- Provide guidance, coaching, and technical mentoring
- Help maintain high technical and professional standards across the business
About You:
Requirements:
- Chartered Financial Planner (CII) status achieved (Ideally)
- 10+ years’ paraplanning experience within a UK IFA firm
- Strong, hands-on experience with: offshore/onshore bonds, chargeable event gains, gilts, pension allowance calculations, and UK trust structures
- Excellent knowledge of UK pensions, investments, and personal/trust/estate taxation
- Exceptional attention to detail and high-quality written communication
- Able to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
- Genuine enthusiasm for paraplanning as a long-term career
- Comfortable mentoring and supporting junior paraplanners
