We are looking for a Senior Enforcement Officer to work within our established Enforcement Team.
The role is based in the Craven/Harrogate area but will also cover south of the district which includes the Selby area, so a willingness to travel across the County is required.
About the roleWorking within the Planning Service, you’ll play a vital role in protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment while supporting sustainable development and high quality places to live and work.
The post of Senior Enforcement Officer involves taking a key operational role in the enforcement of planning regulations and policy and ensuring delivery of an efficient and effective enforcement function. The role involves leading on complex and significant enforcement casework. These cases can be both complex and controversial. It includes responsibility for providing technical support, mentoring, and coaching for less experienced staff.
You will take a creative and solution focused approach to implementing a positive culture within the team to aid this effective service delivery and provide technical support to the team to ensure that sound decisions are made. You will manage your own enforcement caseload effectively, dealing with particularly complex and strategically significant proposals and appeals.
What We Are Looking ForTo enable your success within this role, you will need:
- Significant experience of working on complex and controversial Planning Enforcement cases, including dealing with appeals at hearings or public inquiries
- Experience of investigating and collecting and collating evidence on complex enforcement cases
- An excellent knowledge of planning legislation and regulations including the Town & Country Planning Act and related regulations
- Degree in planning or related subject or proven equivalent level of technical and organisational knowledge in Planning Enforcement
