Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Pay Rate: £32.00 Ltd per hour

Candidate Responsibilities for the Substance Misuse Nurse As a Substance Misuse Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

Delivering comprehensive assessments, care planning, and clinical interventions for clients with substance misuse needs
Acting as a senior clinical decision-maker and providing expert guidance to nursing and support staff
Supervising, mentoring, and appraising staff to support ongoing professional development
Promoting evidence-based, trauma-informed, person-centred care approaches
Collaborating with psychosocial, mental health, and physical healthcare teams to ensure integrated service delivery
Leading the development and review of clinical protocols, policies, and pathways aligned with national standards such as NICE
Participating in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities
Ensuring accurate data management via systems like Systm One and NDTMS, maintaining compliance with CQC standards
Coordinating opioid substitution therapy (OST), including detox planning and medication reviews
Maintaining effective partnerships with prisons, community services, and stakeholders for seamless patient care
Managing workforce planning, rota management, and ensuring safe staffing levels
Upholding safeguarding, confidentiality, and information governance standards
Facilitating service user involvement and peer-led recovery initiatives
Supporting research projects, audits, and reflective practice to enhance service quality

Candidate Requirements for the Substance Misuse Nurse
NMC registration as a Registered Nurse

Experience with in substance misuse services
Strong clinical decision-making and leadership skills
Knowledge of OST, detox protocols, and harm reduction strategies
