Student Health Visitor; SCPHN - North & West Yorkshire

Overview

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT) invites motivated and compassionate nurses or midwives to train as Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (Health Visitors) through the SCPHN (Health Visiting) programme. This is a Band 5 Student Health Visitor post with a structured pathway into the Health Visiting profession, combining academic study with supervised practice in community settings. You will join a supportive and experienced team committed to helping you develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to qualify as a Band 6 Health Visitor.

Salary: The salary for the student role will be mid-point Band 5 which is currently £33,487 per annum pro rata.

• Employment as a Band 5 Student Health Visitor for the duration of the SCPHN (Health Visiting) programme

• To participate in all elements of the SCPHN programme both theory and practice and ensure completion of all approved programme documentation and assessments which must be submitted within time scale.
• To take responsibility in organising regular planned tripartite and bipartite meetings with your Practice Assessor and Academic Assessor.
• To fully participate in the teaching strategies used by the Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor.
• To develop professional knowledge and competence, pertaining to Health Visiting and relevant to safe standards of professional practice.
• To accurately record information within systmone records understanding and documenting cumulative risk and actioning appropriately. Records to be contemporaneous and recorded timely as per trust policy.
• Confidentiality to be maintained at all times. Access to electronic devises to be kept safe and stored as per trust policy.
• Under the supervision of the Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor manage delegated workload/caseload and supervise staff if appropriate.
• To undertake nursing and public health duties under direct and indirect supervision of the Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor
• To act in accordance with all Trust policies.
• To develop skills in nurse prescribing, leading to qualification as a community prescriber. To demonstrate the ability to prescribe safely and effectively.
