We are seeking an experienced and motivated Ward Manager to lead our Elective Orthopaedic Ward, ensuring high‑quality patient care, excellent team leadership, and efficient service delivery in a dynamic, patient‑focused environment.

• Provide leadership, clinical expertise and day‑to‑day management for the ward team.
• Deliver a high‑quality nursing service, enhancing and promoting excellent clinical practice within the multidisciplinary team.
• Continuously develop and enhance knowledge and skills to influence consistent standards of clinical practice.
• Support staff development through the appraisal process and mentorship programme, encouraging learning and practice development.
• Lead and implement changes to policies and legislation affecting service delivery.
• Plan, organise and deliver specialist care and training.
• Act as a professional role model, upholding the department philosophy and corporate values.
• Establish personal development objectives for staff in accordance with the NMC.
• Initiate and participate in departmental audit and provide regular feedback to staff and the Matron.
• Advocate for patients, consistently acting professionally and maintaining effective clinical assessment to ensure care is planned and evaluated.
• Manage the team’s staffing within budget, ensuring appropriate skill mix and patient safety.

• Registered Practitioner (NMC)
• Evidence of post‑basic education within surgery

• Continued professional development experience
• Experience in surgical nursing
• Band 6 level experience on a surgical ward
• Experience utilising a variety of HR practices
• Experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics
