We are seeking an experienced and motivated Ward Manager to lead our Elective Orthopaedic Ward, ensuring high‑quality patient care, excellent team leadership, and efficient service delivery in a dynamic, patient‑focused environment.
Job responsibilities- Provide leadership, clinical expertise and day‑to‑day management for the ward team.
- Deliver a high‑quality nursing service, enhancing and promoting excellent clinical practice within the multidisciplinary team.
- Continuously develop and enhance knowledge and skills to influence consistent standards of clinical practice.
- Support staff development through the appraisal process and mentorship programme, encouraging learning and practice development.
- Lead and implement changes to policies and legislation affecting service delivery.
- Plan, organise and deliver specialist care and training.
- Act as a professional role model, upholding the department philosophy and corporate values.
- Establish personal development objectives for staff in accordance with the NMC.
- Initiate and participate in departmental audit and provide regular feedback to staff and the Matron.
- Advocate for patients, consistently acting professionally and maintaining effective clinical assessment to ensure care is planned and evaluated.
- Manage the team’s staffing within budget, ensuring appropriate skill mix and patient safety.

Person specification Qualifications- Registered Practitioner (NMC)
- Evidence of post‑basic education within surgery
- Continued professional development experience
- Experience in surgical nursing
- Band 6 level experience on a surgical ward
- Experience utilising a variety of HR practices
- Experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics
