Mobile Gardener

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Gardener covering the North region
, with Harrogate used as the base site. This is a full time permanent position, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary of £26,722 per annum
.

This is a mobile role responsible for maintaining cemeteries and memorial sites across the region. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands‑on horticultural work and takes pride in maintaining outdoor spaces to a consistently high standard.

You will work independently across multiple locations while ensuring all sites are presented with care, respect, and attention to detail. Strong organisation and reliability are essential due to the mobile nature of the role.

• Carry out horticultural maintenance including mowing, edging, hedge cutting, weeding, and pruning
• Apply pesticides and treatments in accordance with safe working practices
• Undertake general caretaking duties across cemetery and memorial sites
• Plan and organise daily workload across multiple locations
• Order plants, chemicals, fertilisers, PPE, and equipment as required
• Operate, maintain, and carry out routine checks on machinery and vehicles
• Report structural defects or environmental changes to management
• Adhere strictly to Health and Safety procedures and safe working practices
• Complete administrative tasks using a smart tablet and IT systems
• Maintain high standards of presentation and site care at all times

• NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture (or equivalent) OR proven practical horticultural experience
• Strong plant identification knowledge and understanding of sustainable garden practices
• Understanding of Health and Safety procedures
• Experience operating a wide range of garden machinery
• Full UK manual driving licence essential
• IT literate and confident using tablets or mobile devices

• Practical and hands‑on horticultural ability
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently in a mobile role

• Salary of £26,722 per annum

Summer Hours
Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 12.30 / 1.30pm to 5.00pm
Friday 8.00am to 12.30pm / 1.30pm to 4.00pm

Winter Hours
Monday to Friday 8.00am to 12.30 / 1.00pm to 4.00pm
