Make a difference just by being you

The majority of our shops don’t have a lot of space to store donated stock, so our donation centres are a vital resource to enable us to keep more stock, organise goods for sale and to get the right items out to the most suitable shop.

There is no minimum time commitment that we expect from our volunteers so whether you can do a few hours a week or once a month, we’ll do our best to offer a role that fits in with your schedule. No previous experience is necessary as training will be provided.

What happens next?

If you decide to apply a member of the volunteering team will contact you and ask you to come in for an initial chat. This is not an interview, just a chance to get an idea of how you'd like to help. From there you can meet the rest of the volunteer team and get involved with whatever area of the Donation Centre that takes your interest!

Our Volunteer Donations Assistants play an essential 'behind the scenes' role in the smooth running of our retail outlets while raising vital funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

• Unpacking deliveries
• Sorting and categorising donated items
• Merchandising – preparing donations for sale
• Packing items for redistribution across the charity’s shops
• Looking out for collectable or vintage items for sale on the eBay and Depop shopop

• Ability to keep the centre clean, tidy and well organised
• A hardworking, enthusiastic and helpful attitude
• Someone who is willing to follow guidance and processes
• Reliability is essential

• It is a great way to support a worthwhile cause. You will be playing a key role in raising funds which will help more people across Yorkshire avoid and survive cancer
• You will gain experience is a retail environment
• You will develop skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem solving
• You will receive full training and gain valuable experience which can boost your CV

We will need one reference and proof of  home address for all volunteers
