Job Overview
Veterinary Assistants support all functions of the CVM and DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center, including animal care and support for laboratory sessions.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience handling and managing companion and/or farm animals
- Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large.
- Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students.
- Assist the designated faculty to provide clinical and lab experiences for students in an efficient, professional, and authoritative manner.
- Assist with preparation for laboratories, including organization of resources (faculty, animals, student groups, equipment, and consumables).
- Assist with lab clean up.
- Assist with handling, maintenance, monitoring, and treatment of the animals housed at the DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center.
- Ensure that all OSHA and USDA guidelines are implemented in student clinical activities.
- Comply with all IACUC guidelines.
- Maintain adequate records for animals.
- Maintain a current inventory of materials and equipment used in labs.
- Other duties as assigned.
