Veterinary Assistant

Veterinary Assistants support all functions of the CVM and DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center, including animal care and support for laboratory sessions.

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Experience handling and managing companion and/or farm animals.

• Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large.
• Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students.
• Assist the designated faculty to provide clinical and lab experiences for students in an efficient, professional, and authoritative manner.
• Assist with preparation for laboratories including organization of resources, including faculty, animals, student groups, equipment for laboratory, and consumables for laboratories.
• Assist with lab clean up.
• Assist with handling, maintenance, monitoring, and treatment of the animals housed at the DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center.
• Ensure that all OSHA and USDA guidelines are implemented in student clinical student activities; comply with all IACUC guidelines.
• Maintain adequate records for animals.
• Maintain a current inventory of materials and equipment used in labs.
• Other duties as assigned.
