- Greet patients as they arrive and provide a welcoming environment
- Assist patients in filling out forms and obtaining necessary signatures
- Answer phones and schedule patients for dental screenings or treatment, addressing patient questions and concerns both in person and over the phone.
- Confirm patient financials before treatment is rendered; uphold clinic policy and procedures regarding payment at the time of service.
- Verify active Medicaid status on the day of the patient s appointment.
- Send and receive emails and faxes as needed to facilitate patient care and team communication
- Ensure all necessary patient documentation is completed and accurate, scan signed documents into patient electronic health record (EHR) software profile
- Process patient check‑ins and check‑outs efficiently and accurately using EHR software
- Assist patients with Care Credit financing. Reconcile end‑of‑day collection reports with credit card receipts and petty cash.
- Print student documents and patient forms as needed
- Keep the reception area clean and organized; order office supplies as needed
- Communicate with dental staff and students about patient arrivals and specific needs
- Assist with monitoring student attendance
- Collaborate with co‑workers on patient scheduling, security processes, and patient management needs in the dental school setting
- Display a keen ability to multi‑task, being a self‑starter who consistently takes the initiative
- Ensure front office compliance with all CDC infection control, OSHA, HIPAA and state/federal debt collection regulations
- Actively participate in emergency protocols for codes and drills (medical, security, fire, weather, safety, etc.) Maintain BLS CPR healthcare certification
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years experience in a medical or dental office setting.
- This position is sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting with occasional walking and standing.
- Tasks may involve lifting no more than 25 pounds and occasionally carrying items like files or office supplies.
- Able to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
