Location: Office Based In Stanmore (5 Days Per Week)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
We are working with a well-established and growing accountancy practice looking to appoint an experienced Client Accountant to manage a diverse portfolio of clients and provide a high standard of accounting and tax services.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong UK practice experience who enjoys building long-term client relationships and taking ownership of client work from start to finish.
The RoleAs a Client Accountant, you will be the primary point of contact for your portfolio, ensuring clients receive a proactive and professional service while managing deadlines and maintaining high technical standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and rental property businesses
- Preparing and submitting Corporation Tax and Personal Tax Returns
- Reviewing and submitting VAT Returns, including Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance
- Preparing accounts approval packs and submitting accounts and tax returns
- Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as their trusted advisor
- Liaising directly with HMRC to resolve tax queries and correspondence
- Monitoring work in progress, chargeable time and client deadlines
- Preparing fee proposals, onboarding new clients and issuing engagement letters
- Assisting with credit control where required
- Working alongside outsourced teams to ensure high-quality delivery
- Providing higher-level tax advice, including areas such as R&D Tax Relief, ATED and Making Tax Digital
- Preparing medium-sized company accounts, charity accounts and consolidated accounts
We're looking for someone who has:
- 5-10 years' UK accountancy practice experience
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients independently
- Strong knowledge of UK accounts preparation and tax compliance
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build lasting client relationships
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workloads effectively
- Experience reviewing work in progress and monitoring chargeable time
- Confidence dealing directly with HMRC
- A willingness to learn new software and systems where required
- Salary of £45,000 - £55,000
