Overview

Specialty Registrar
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. A 6-month appointment based mainly at Northwick Park Hospital. The role requires motivated doctors with some OMFS experience to work with other trainee doctors and consultants to care for emergency and elective patients within OMFS and Head & Neck. The weekly timetable can be adjusted depending on the experience of the successful candidate and the service needs.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the middle grade team, all of whom are medically and dentally qualified doctors, supporting services across the network and participating in a 2nd on‑call rota.

Specialty/Service Context

TOMFS Service:
The London North West Regional Maxillofacial Unit opened at Northwick Park Hospital in May 2006. This is a Specialist Regional In-Patient Service with dedicated nursing and Critical Care support, plus a prosthodontic and vibrant regional orthodontic service. Facilities include a state-of-the-art maxillofacial and orthodontic laboratory, administrative offices for consultants, secretaries and junior doctors, and up-to-date outpatient facilities with PACs imaging equipment (X-ray, ultrasound) and nasendoscopy capabilities.

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) serves Brent, Ealing, Harrow and beyond. The team comprises more than 8,200 clinical and support staff serving a diverse population of almost one million people.

  • Northwick Park Hospital: busy ED, full range of services including hyper-acute stroke unit
  • St Mark’s Hospital: specialist centre for bowel disease
  • Ealing Hospital: 24/7 ED and urgent care, Meadow House Hospice
  • Central Middlesex Hospital: planned care site with surgical and outpatient services
Responsibilities
  • Work within the middle grade team to deliver OMFS care for emergency and elective patients.
  • Collaborate with medical and dental colleagues to support services across the network.
  • Participate in the 2nd on-call rota and contribute to a multidisciplinary team approach.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Some Oral & Maxillofacial surgery experience.
  • Motivated and prepared to work with trainees and consultants in a busy specialty.
