Cover Supervisor

Teach Now is recruiting a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor for a welcoming secondary school in the London Borough of Brent. This is a full-time, temporary position starting 23 February 2026, ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a secondary school setting.

This inclusive and well-organised school supports students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school is known for its positive behaviour culture, clear systems, and strong pastoral support, making it an excellent environment for cover staff to succeed. You will be well supported by experienced teachers and senior leaders, ensuring you feel confident and prepared in your role.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, delivering pre-planned work and maintaining a focused, productive learning environment. This role is ideal for graduates considering teacher training, experienced teaching assistants, or individuals with strong classroom presence and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5 using prepared resources

• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

• Support students with additional needs, including SEN, where required

• Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment at all times

• Provide feedback to teaching staff on lesson outcomes and student engagement

Requirements

• Previous experience working with young people (school-based experience desirable)

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Confidence managing a classroom independently

• A calm, professional, and adaptable approach

• Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
