Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with tracheostomy support experience looking for a rewarding role where you can make a life-changing difference?

Teach Now is recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil with additional medical needs in a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Harrow. This is a full-time position for the academic year, offering the opportunity to play a vital role in a childs education, wellbeing and independence.

The Role

As the pupils dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide both educational and medical support throughout the school day, ensuring they can access learning safely, confidently and successfully. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals, you will help create a nurturing and inclusive environment where the pupil can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

This role requires an experienced candidate who is confident supporting a child with a tracheostomy and can respond calmly and professionally to their medical and educational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN and a tracheostomy.

• Support the pupils learning, communication, independence and social development.

• Deliver safe and effective tracheostomy care throughout the school day.

• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents and healthcare professionals.

• Encourage positive engagement in classroom activities.

• Promote the childs wellbeing, confidence and inclusion.

• Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding and medical procedures at all times.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or Teaching Assistant.

• Essential:
Practical experience supporting a child with a tracheostomy.

• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and/or complex medical needs.

• Calm, caring and resilient with a nurturing approach.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• A proactive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality pupil support.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
