The London Borough of Harrow is looking to appoint a committed, hardworking and motivated advisory teacher for children who are deaf or who have hearing needs to join our established Children's Sensory Team. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to support children and young people across a range of educational and community settings. We recognise that recruiting teachers with the right specialist qualifications and experience can be challenging.
We will therefore seriously consider strong applicants who do not yet hold the specialist qualification, provided they are committed to completing the postgraduate Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of the Deaf (QToD). The successful candidate will work with children and young people aged from birth to 25 years, including those with additional needs, to promote progress, independence and successful inclusion. The role involves providing specialist teaching, advice and learning opportunities, as well as supporting schools and settings to make the curriculum accessible.
You will also provide training and guidance to educational setting staff, and other professionals, helping them to support children and young people who are deaf or who have hearing needs effectively. Closing date: 14/09/2026 Shortlisting: 16/09/2026 Interviews: W/C 21st September & 28th September. The post is required as soon as possible, or from January 2027.
