We are currently seeking a Welfare / Medical Officer to join a welcoming primary school based in Harrow on a temporary contract from November through to April.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing and welfare of pupils across the school, ensuring children receive appropriate care and support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide first aid and basic medical care to pupils and staff when required
  • Respond to pupil illnesses, injuries and medical needs
  • Administer medication in line with school policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical and welfare records
  • Liaise with parents/carers regarding pupil health and wellbeing
  • Support pupils with ongoing medical conditions and individual healthcare plans
  • Monitor and maintain first aid and medical supplies
  • Promote good health, hygiene and wellbeing across the school
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider pastoral team
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to medical emergencies
The Ideal Candidate :
  • Previous experience working in a school, healthcare, childcare or welfare setting is desirable
  • First Aid qualification is essential
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A calm, caring and approachable manner
  • Confident working with children and building positive relationships
  • Reliable, proactive and able to work independently
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Welfare Officer, Medical Officer, First Aider, Healthcare Assistant, Teaching Assistant or similar professional looking for a temporary role within a supportive primary school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
