Civil Engineering, Site Manager
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to support the delivery of a major tunnel scheme but be involved massively in the drainage package.
This is a long-term contract role focused on site-based engineering delivery, technical assurance, and coordination of construction activities in a complex underground environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day site engineering activities for tunnel and shaft works
Set out, check, and control works in accordance with drawings and specifications
Oversee temporary and permanent works associated with shafts, tunnelling, and civils packages
Review and implement RAMS, ITPs, and construction methodologies
Coordinate with subcontractors, site management, and design teams
Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to quality standards
Maintain accurate site records, as-built information, and QA documentation
Support problem-solving and technical queries arising on site
Requirements
Strong background in civil engineering, with proven experience on tunnelling and shaft construction
Previous experience operating at Senior Engineer level on major infrastructure projects
Solid understanding of underground construction methods and temporary works
Competent with setting out equipment and surveying techniques
SMSTS and CSCS (essential)
Ability to work autonomously and manage engineering priorities on site
Excellent communication and coordination skills
Desirable
Experience on UK infrastructure or utilities projects
Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor experience
Confined spaces and underground safety training
