Full time (10 PAs) – £109,725 – £145,478 per annum plus London weighting and 8% allowance for 1 in 4 on‑call duties
Applications are invited for a Consultant in Medical Microbiology to work in the Trust. The Trust has 9,000 staff, including 1,300 doctors and 4,000 nurses, serving a population of approximately 850,000.

- Northwick Park Hospital – one of the busiest emergency departments in the country.
- St Mark's Hospital – internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease.
- Ealing Hospital – district general hospital with 24/7 emergency department.
- Central Middlesex Hospital – planned care site hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services.
- Provide clinical microbiology service across Northwick Park, St Mark’s, Ealing and Central Middlesex hospitals and local communities.
- Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota (1:4).
- Work closely with clinician staff, the Infection Control Team, and senior microbiology colleagues.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of microbiology results, maintaining professional standards.
- Contribute to clinical audit, teaching, training and research activities.
- Represent microbiology at the Infection Control Committee, Antibiotic Committee and other departmental meetings.
- Support antimicrobial stewardship programmes.
- Maintain liaison with all clinical departments, attending ward rounds, audit meetings and other required activities.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- GMC registration – Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT/CSER) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
- MRCP, MSc Medical Microbiology, MD, PhD or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a clinical microbiology department in the NHS.
- Broad training in clinical microbiology, virology and its subspecialties.
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
- IT skills and computer literacy.
