CAMHS Specialist Support Worker (Whole School Approach)The closing date is 24 February 2026
The post holder will provide support to schools within the Mental Health Support team (MHST) using the 'Whole-school Approach' to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people in Harrow schools/colleges.
The post holder will work with the whole school community (teaching professionals, children, parents, volunteers, and support staff) to break down stigma around mental health issues, and support children to become more resilient so they are better equipped to understand and manage their emotions and behaviour.
This will involve working closely and collaboratively with a range of other organisations and key partners supporting the Early Intervention services.
The post holder will be involved in the development and delivery of practical support, resources, training and psycho educational sessions to school staff, other professionals, students, and their parents/carers across Harrow. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday 9-5.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will support the whole 'System' that is the NHS, Local Authority and the third sector to a deliver high quality, effective and efficient service and system responses to:
- Improve the experience of CYP
- Improve the experience of Parent/carers & families
- Improve Access
- Improve Quality of care
The post holder will work as part of the MHST team providing support to CYP within the community under the direct or indirect supervision of senior clinical staff.

Communication and key working relationships
Internal:
- Whole school Approach coordinator (WSAC)
- Team Manager and Operational Service Manager.
- All team members within CAMHS
- Reporting directly to Clinical Supervisors MHST
- All staff across the MHST
External:
- Children, young people and their families / carers.
- Education environments including schools and colleges.
- Local Authority staff providing services for young people including Public Health and Educational Psychology Service.
- Voluntary organisations offering services for young people
- Liaising with stake holders
- NVQ II in Care, project management qualification and or good standard of education or equivalent experience
- European Computer Driving License (ECDL)
- Previous experience of working with children, young people and families
- Positive attitude towards working with people with a learning difficulty or autism spectrum disorders
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues and the ability to integrate into employment policies and practices
- Experience of working within a multi- disciplinary team
- Team player
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to organise and prioritise workloads
Enthusiastic and non-judgmental - Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to tailor the message to a variety of audiences

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
