Community Children's Nursing Associate

As a Registered Nursing Associate, you will be responsible for delivering high quality clinical care undertaking a full range of routine care and clinical tasks for children and young people in our care as directed by the registered nurse within the Community Children’s Nursing service.

The Community Children's Nursing Team consists of Community Children’s Nurses, Special School Nurses, Children’s Asthma Nurse and HEN Dietician, providing clinical nursing care, training and support to children, young people (aged 0-19) and their carers at home, special schools or other community settings, enabling them to remain safely in the community and transition to adult services where appropriate.

• Children with acute and short-term conditions
• Children with long term conditions
• Children with disabilities and complex conditions, including neonates
• Children with life‑limiting and life‑threatening illness, including palliative and end‑of‑life‑care.
• Children in special school settings.

• Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
• Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification

• Clinical skills such as enteral feeding, observations, oxygen monitoring.
• Tracheostomy knowledge and experience.
• Medication Administration

• Understand the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation; including how the role may contribute to service development.
• Understand and act in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
• Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
• Understand requirements for NMC professional revalidation.
