Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Youth Support Worker The Wish Centre Deadline: 31 Jul 2026

The Youth Support Worker is a key role at wïsh to support mainly high school-age and NEET young people. Working alongside our therapy team, you will be the “friendly face” who is their first contact, and through texting (work mobile with set hours – not a crisis line) or visiting them in their school or college or inviting them to our comfy sofas at wïsh
, you will help them to decide what support they need.

Some will go on to long-term psychotherapy with us; some will join the peer support or art therapy groups that you help to plan and run; some will do both. You will also be responsible for recruiting youth volunteers and running a regular youth voice and peer support group. As you develop your confidence and passion for our work, you may deliver assemblies or small workshops in schools, and generate content for our social media too.

Representing us at meetings where you can talk about your work and the issues young people are facing will be valuable to ensure that the youth voice is heard and that young people’s needs are prioritised in planning services locally. At wïsh, you will work alongside two of our Young Trustees to embed youth voice into all we do. We are so excited that the Chair of our Trustee Board is a young Trustee ex-service user, and we are fully committed to our target of 50% of the Trustee Board being young people with lived experience.

You will be fully supported by safeguarding supervision, planning and de-briefing, and co-working at all times. Training will be provided. We are keen to support the right person to access CPD training, accreditations, and qualifications.

The post is subject to an enhanced vetting and barring check and is open to female applicants only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part
1).
