BREAST MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST OPPORTUNITY

Location Detail: 80 Seymour Street (10008)

The Hartford Health Care Cancer Institute

Hartford Hospital, an 867-bed tertiary care center, is the flagship hospital of Hartford Health Care. In anticipation of planned expansion of the cancer center we are seeking a medical oncologist with breast cancer sub‑specialization to join our 4 breast medical oncologists. The busy breast service sees over 600 new cases of breast cancer annually cared for by a multi‑disciplinary team of fellowship trained breast surgeons and medical and radiation oncologists sub‑specializing in breast cancer.

The clinical team is well supported by pathologists and radiologists, many of whom are fellowship trained as well as by reconstructive surgeons, a mature genetic counselling program and an active nurse navigator program. Formal programs in survivorship, high risk care, patient education and breast rehabilitation services are in development. The hospital has active clinical trial and health disparities research programs and is a main member of SWOG and NRG.

Hartford Hospital is the largest teaching hospital in the University of Connecticut medical school system with medical residents and oncology fellows in training.

  • The Hartford Health Care Breast Disease Management Team (DMT) is a multi‑disciplinary group with governance over quality, research and innovative program development in breast cancer across the healthcare system. The Breast DMT works closely and collaboratively with its MSK counterpart.
  • Hartford Hospital Breast Tumor Board meets weekly to discuss the management of individual patients.
  • Hospitalist teams cover in‑patient care with oncology consult service provided by medical oncology.
  • There are opportunities to participate in teaching, clinical research, and quality/outcomes research.
  • Hartford Health Care is a growing and financially secure physician‑led organization.
  • Hartford Health Care supports personal development and well‑being through the HHC Physician Leadership Development Institute and the Office of Provider Wellness.

Ideally situated between Boston and New York City, Connecticut offers you and your family the finest schools in the nation; four beautiful seasons of recreational activities, and options to live at the shore, in leafy suburbs, or in vibrant urban areas.

This position is open to mid‑career medical oncologists, as well as to physicians completing their fellowship with an interest in breast oncology, who desire to further their professional development in an academic‑community healthcare system. Expressions of interest can be directed to Jonathan Nye, Physician Recruiter  or call, text (860) 657‑6087.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience practicing within a multidisciplinary team model of care for breast patients
  • Academic accomplishment in clinical trials or quality improvement is highly desirable
  • Board Certified Hematology & Oncology
  • Board Certified Internal Medicine
