Cardiology​/Critical Care Cardiologist

The Hartford Health Care Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) seeks an intensivist with a strong cardiac interest and experience, or a cardiologist with critical care experience and/or training, to join the Cardiac ICU team at Hartford Hospital. Located in Hartford, Connecticut, the clinician will care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease and engage in advanced clinical, educational, and leadership opportunities. This role offers a supportive, collaborative environment within a nationally recognized integrated health system.

• The Hartford Hospital critical care unit is staffed with highly trained advanced practitioners and fellows.
• The Heart and Vascular Institute is one of the strongest programs in the country, performing approximately 1500 surgeries per year.
• The Advanced Heart Failure Service is one of the largest in New England, with one of the highest post-transplant survival rates in the nation, performing on average 40 transplants a year.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease which can include pre- and postoperative care, heart transplant and/or a Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), and acute mechanical circulatory support (ECMO cannulation, impella and intra-aortic balloon pumps) and cardiogenic shock.
• Participate in opportunities for involvement in our ECMO program.
• Assume leadership opportunities within our ECMO program with appropriate level of experience.
• Engage in educational opportunities with APPs, cardiology fellows, critical care fellows, residents and interns.
• Place chest tubes, and perform bronchoscopy and emergent intubations.
