All Teaching Faculty members shall prepare and teach college‑approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date; respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.); perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources;
and other teaching and related duties as outlined on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Working supervisory level.
Job Duties
- Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year across a range of courses in the discipline area of study.
- Evaluate and assess student learning; provide student support and academic advising.
- Plan and execute program‑related events; assist with program reviews.
- Develop curriculum and periodically evaluate teaching materials.
- Attend workshops and conferences to maintain currency in profession and field.
- Coordinate day and evening classes using lecture, hybrid, and/or online delivery systems.
- Recruit, advise, and retain students in ESOL and Foreign Languages.
- Schedule the program courses; hire and evaluate faculty; establish and cultivate partnerships with local organizations and employers; arrange and supervise internships.
- Assess and improve the program in accordance with collective bargaining agreement; perform administrative duties during the summer months.
- Attend convocation and commencement ceremonies; serve on assigned committees and task forces; attend committee and professional meetings, including evening and weekend events.
- Master’s degree in ESL, TESL, or TESOL.
- Four (4) years of college teaching experience (96+ credits).
- Proven ability to work effectively with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
- Strong information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Experience teaching ESL courses.
- Experience in curriculum development, program assessment, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of current TESOL and foreign language instructional methods, trends, and best practices.
