Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader based out of our office in Boston, MA.
Responsibilities- Perform field inspections according to MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, FHWA NBIS, and NTIS requirements.
- Supervise team members, access and equipment vendors.
- Work at heights, on ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and other bridge inspection equipment.
- Work in confined spaces, adjacent to live traffic, in or around water, and under adverse weather conditions.
- Work overnight as required, including within railroad right-of-way.
- Prepare inspection reports, develop sketches, calculate NBE/NTE quantities, and estimate preliminary construction costs for repairs and maintenance.
- Perform quality control reviews of work produced by others.
- Optionally prepare bridge load rating calculations and reports, develop repair/rehabilitation plans and specifications, provide construction cost estimates, and offer construction phase services such as submittal review and field observations.
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS plus 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
- Current National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and/or National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS) Team Leader certification, including required safety and refresher trainings.
- Valid driver’s license; must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 4 years of bridge inspection experience.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in Massachusetts.
- Experience with MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT bridge inspections.
- Experience with MassDOT and MBTA tunnel inspections.
- Additional NHI training (e.g., Fracture Critical/NSTM, Ancillary Structures).
- ANSI 92.24/92.22 Mobile Elevated Work Platforms/Snooper training.
- Prior fall protection and confined space training.
- Previous MBTA, Keolis, and/or Amtrak contractor right-of-way training.
- Bridge load rating experience.
- Bridge and tunnel repair experience.
- Familiarity with MassDOT 4D Database and AASHTOware BrM database.
- Field work requires traversing steep embankments, confined spaces, heights, and active traffic.
- Must be capable of lifting/carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Work schedule includes overnight project work and variable weekly hours.
- US employment authorization sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
- Relocation is not available.
Compensation: $128,960 – $166,400 annually, based on education, qualifications, experience, and location.
