Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer with proven expertise in designing repairs to a wide array of structures. Experience in forensic engineering is a plus. The ideal candidate will assess structural integrity, diagnose failures, and develop innovative repair solutions. The role requires strong project management, analytical skills, attention to detail, comprehensive technical reporting, and excellent communication. A current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the resident state is required.

Candidates should ideally reside in Southern New England.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Determine the origin and cause and extent of structural failures including roof damage, water intrusion, post‑fire damage, storm damage assessments, structural collapse, building system failures, foundation/settlement, product liability, and construction defects.
  • Survey losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings.
  • Conduct investigations to determine and document the scope of damage caused by a recent acute event.
  • Investigate and assess damages due to failures and determine the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.
  • Analyze and document the failure analysis and causation of failures.
  • Collaborate with other investigators to produce detailed reports outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages.
  • Serve as an expert witness in court and/or depositions.
  • Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects for clients.
Education and Licensing
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in the resident state (multi‑state licensing or active NCEES Record is preferred).
  • Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.

Work Environment

Physical demands: stand and walk for long periods, kneel/squat/bend, work outdoors in hot/cold weather, climb, crawl, stoop, reach overhead, lift/carry up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs, drive up to 4 hours per day.
